Rags to Riches in Poker

One of the most memorable hands I’ve ever played occurred online in a 9-handed $3/$6 game on PartyPoker.

I don’t remember what the buy in was but I do remember there were quite a few players who were deep stacked.  I was pretty deep myself, I had about $900.

Anyway I was in the small blind with 8-0 hr 8003-1 hr 800.  UTG, UTG+1, UTG+2, Cutoff, and Button limped in.  With so many limpers I decided to see a flop with my garbage.  The big blind to my surprise mini raised to $12, which made absolutely no sense.   Everyone called.  The pot stood at about $80

The flop came 8-3 hr 8007-2 hr 8002-1 hr 800.  Obviously with so many limpers I have no idea where my hand is at, so I decided to play it relatively slow and check.  I wanted to see how the action would unfold in front of me.  The big blind bet $25.

UTG folded, UTG+1 called, UTG+2 folded, Cutoff folded, Button called, and I called.  Now the pot is about $180.

The turn was 3-3 hr 800.  I loved this card, and was pretty sure it put me in the lead for the hand.  It was hard for me to believe that someone slow played a set on the flop with that many people in the hand, but that was of course quite possible.  Same, well even more so, goes for two pair, something like

8-1 hr 8007-1 hr 800.  I would think someone would have raised the flop with top two, and I didn’t give our mini raising opponent credit for this hand.

Anyway, I checked, with the full intention of check raising.

Sure as gold, the BB bet $75. UTG+1 Called.  Button Called.  I raised to $225.  BB called.  UTG+1 folded.  Button called.  Pot = $930.

Wait, the button called?  That call threw me off.  Getting the flat call from the button made me hesitate about having the best hand.  With that kind of board, I couldn’t think of a hand that the button was continuing with that wasn’t beating me.  Just as I was contemplating how I was going to approach the river, I looked at a very exciting card peel the river.

The 8-2 hr 800!  Now unless the button had 8-1 hr 8007-1 hr 800as I discussed earlier, I was in the driver’s seat obviously with Eights full of Threes.  I made up my mind that the pot was too big and I was going to be shipping no matter what.

I checked, hoping one of my opponents had just a naked 8 which had now become trips and he wouldn’t be able to help himself.

BB bets $275.

The button shipped for about $650.

Ugh.  I’m getting it in, but I didn’t really know where the button stood at all.  I tanked to try and provoke a call from the big blind, but I was pretty sure he couldn’t come off his hand either.

I shipped for about $640.

The big blind SNAP called for the remainder of his stack, which was about $325.

All I can remember was my heart racing, praying the button didn’t have 87, then seeing this huge pot being shipped to me, the game breaking, and myself staring at the screen for literally five minutes in disbelief that I had just raked in the biggest pot of my poker career to that point ($2800+) with 8-0 hr 8003-1 hr 800!

After I got over the initial shock, I checked the hand history.  The big blind did indeed have just an 8.  He mini-raised preflop with Q-1 hr 8008-1 hr 800, which I thought was quite the bizarre play.  Also, I wasn’t too sure how he called two shoves on the river.

Now, when I saw the button’s hand, it made sense the way the hand played out.  He got cold decked with 3-1 hr 8003-2 hr 800!  I didn’t understand how he could call a flop bet with pocket threes but the turn card was obviously fantastic for him and really bad for me, and vice versa with the one outer I peeled on the river!!

Can anyone recommend the top performing Patch Management software for a small IT service company like mine? Does anyone use Kaseya.com or GFI.com? How do they compare to these guys I found recently: N-able N-central automated deployment
? What is your best take in cost vs performance among those three? I need a good advice please… Thanks in advance!
